Unmasked: Jean Daniel Braun 5 Suites for Solo Cello, 1740

by Adam Riggs

Jean Daniel Braun (?-1738) was a French flautist, composer, and publisher who published 10 collections of his own works during his lifetime. The pieces that make up the 5 Suites were published posthumously and share a common movement with Braun's Sonata for Two Bassoons, thus confirming Braun's authorship. Presented here for the first time on cello, these suites are wonderful examples of the simplistic, yet appealing music of Jean Daniel Braun.  Purchase here:
