Jean Daniel Braun (?-1738) was a French flautist, composer, and publisher who published 10 collections of his own works during his lifetime. The pieces that make up the 5 Suites were published posthumously and share a common movement with Braun's Sonata for Two Bassoons, thus confirming Braun's authorship. Presented here for the first time on cello, these suites are wonderful examples of the simplistic, yet appealing music of Jean Daniel Braun.

Sheet Music

After much research and time recording these suites, I decided to make my own edition of the sheet music that makes up the suites. This edition, available at Sheet Music Plus, contains two versions, one that is an urtext based on the manuscript copy in the Bibliotheque National de France (Paris), and one that has bowing suggestions that are more suited to performance on the cello.
