DENLER Portraits in Season WORLD PREMIERE
Charles Denler, piano
based on poetry and essays by Henry David Thoreau, with projected, choreographed images by nature photographer John Fielder
BRAHMS Symphony No. 2
Though they never met, Brahms and Thoreau were surely kindred spirits. The composer and the philosopher-poet were both inspired by the natural world and mankind’s relationship to it. This concert’s centerpiece is a world premiere by Emmy Award-winning composer Charles Denler based on Thoreau’s naturalist writings and featuring the iconic photography of the legendary John Fielder. We also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Boulder Chorale with Brahms’s Song of Destiny and conclude with the composer’s life-affirming Symphony No. 2.
